William Jackson
Mr. William James Jackson of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the age of eighty-five. He was born November 30, 1931 in Newport, the son of Oscar an dMargie (Campbell) Jackson.
Mr. Jackson was a self-employed farmer, who loved to drive a tractor. He was an outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Jackson was a member of Surrounded Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, O.E. Jackson; and two sisters, Mattie Jackson Selvidge and Elsie Jackson.
Mr. Jackson is survived by one sister, Ruby Jackson of Newport; two nephews, Edgar Selvidge of Newport, and Robert Selvidge of Possum Grape; one niece, Grace Stidham of Possum Grape; and several great nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Surrounded Hill Missionary Baptist Church, with interment following in Blue Springs Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Stephen Selvidge, Sr., Stephen Selvidge, Jr., Andrew Selvidge, Daniel Selvidge, Dennis Haigwood, Stanley Haigwood, John Brinkley, Billy Osier, and Ricky Fuller.
