Obituary for Barry "Randy" Carroll
Barry Randall "Randy" Carroll stepped from his home in Harrisburg into his heavenly home on Saturday, April 1, 2017 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Randy was born on April 30th, 1947 in West Helena, AR. Jack and Lois Wilson Carroll then moved their young family to Harrisburg, AR where Randy grew up and graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1965.
In 1968 he married his high school sweetheart and soul mate, Mary Jean "Jeanie" Tarkington and they lived briefly in West Memphis, AR where their two children, Tina and Aaron, were born. In 1976, Randy moved his family back to Harrisburg, the town that he loved.
As a young man, Randy served in the Army National Guard. While living in West Memphis he worked for Ryan Chevrolet and later managed JR Food Mart in Harrisburg. Randy worked for American Greetings in Harrisburg and then Osceola for 17 years and was also employed by the Poinsett County Assessor's office where he worked in the real estate department.
Randy loved working with his hands and in his spare time enjoyed mechanics, carpentry and yard work and being with family. He also loved learning and taught himself computers and programming. Mostly he loved his Lord and his family. Randy was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Harrisburg and a current member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
A follower of Christ from an early age, he was a caretaker of people and was known for helping friends and family out in times of need. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to play pranks and tell jokes, especially blonde jokes. He loved music but would tell you he could not "carry a tune in a bucket" and will be remembered mostly for his good nature, his heart for people, his smile and his bear hugs.
Randy is survived by his wife, Jeanie Tarkington Carroll; his mother, Lois Wilson Carroll; his daughter, Tina Carroll Price and her husband Billy; his favorite youngest grandson Drew Price; his favorite oldest grandson, Zac Price and his wife Megan (aka his favorite granddaughter), all of Harrisburg; his sister Sandra Carroll Lyons of Batesville, AR; his brother Dan Carroll of Raytown, MO and a host of nieces, nephews and in-laws. He will be greatly missed by a multitude of friends and family that he touched during his lifetime.
Among those Randy was reunited in heaven with were his father Jack Carroll and his son, Aaron Randall Carroll.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 3rd, at Jackson's Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Bro. Larry White & Bro. Charles Lewis will officiate. Burial will be at Harrisburg Memorial Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Harper, Jason Osborn, Byron Neal, David Wallace, Keith Davis and Jerry Allison, Jr.
The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m., Monday at the funeral home prior to the service.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8
